Things we Love for The Month of Love

We hope to warm up the long, cold month of February by expressing our feelings for the marketing trends we’re loving at the moment. Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, this is the month to embrace the things that make your world go round, regardless if it is another human or not! For us at May & Avaline, it’s these marketing trends that give us our fix of dopamine this February.

Graphic Design

All over social media platforms, graphic design has suddenly become the next big thing. From clean-cut, modern and simplistic designs to dense collages filled with crazy cut-outs and eye-catching colours, unique and individual creativity is being celebrated all over. Magazines and zines are becoming a popular form of self-expression, and we here at May & Avaline are excited to show off our creativity with a few up and coming projects to look out for.

I met my younger self for a coffee…

Trend alert! And this one can be tear-jerking.

Taking a break from the fast-paced, aesthetic and crazy trends normally seen on TikTok, this new trend has really hit home for many people. Reflecting on how far they have come, individuals share a photo of themselves and overlay text, conversing with a younger version of themselves as if they had met them for a coffee. This trend can cover deep life topics, and offer a space in which people can talk about their struggles and become proud of their self-development. We think the promotion of self love in the month of love is very fitting and very important.

B-roll, storytelling and behind-the-scenes content

Now more than ever sharing unedited, human, behind-the-scenes content is becoming increasingly more appealing for audiences. Whether it’s a day in the life or a short, engaging video about a recent struggle they’ve overcome, brands are leaning into the personalities behind their identities, heightening their relatability and engagement with audiences; and we’re loving it! There is something so special about being vulnerable and human, and we applaud those brands that are not afraid to show their softer side.

Food marketing to tickle your taste buds

Food marketing is the new marketing. For everything, not just food.

Appealing to the senses, food is being used across all industries in marketing strategies, successfully catching eyes and intriguing audiences. Rhode seems to be the standout brand for promoting their aptly named products with a whole range of tasty treats. It might be a perfume nestled in a bed of ripe peaches, a dripping swirl of icecream with a lip gloss for a flake, or even the crumbs on a platter that spell out a brand name, but one thing’s for sure; we’ve all got an appetite for these delicious designs. This trend proves that your eyes really may be too big for your stomach.
